A search for rare B→ Dμ+ μ− decays is performed using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb− 1. No significant signals are observed in the non-resonant μ+ μ− modes, and upper limits of,, and are set at the 95% confidence level, where f c and f u are the fragmentation fractions of a B meson with a c and u quark respectively in proton-proton collisions. Each result is either the first such measurement or an improvement by three orders of magnitude on an existing limit. Separate upper limits are calculated when the muon pair originates from a J/ψ→ μ+ μ− decay. The branching fraction of multiplied by the fragmentation-fraction ratio is measured to be

A study of prompt Ξ c+ production in proton-lead collisions is performed with the LHCb experiment at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of 8.16 TeV in 2016 in p Pb and Pb p collisions with an estimated integrated luminosity of approximately 12.5 and 17.4 nb− 1, respectively. The Ξ c+ production cross section, as well as the Ξ c+ to Λ c+ production cross-section ratio, are measured as a function of the transverse momentum and rapidity and compared to the latest theory predictions. The forward-backward asymmetry is also measured as a function of the Ξ c+ transverse momentum. The results provide strong constraints on theoretical calculation and are a unique input for hadronization studies in different collision systems.

We present details on a new measurement of the muon magnetic anomaly, . The result is based on positive muon data taken at Fermilab's Muon Campus during the 2019 and 2020 accelerator runs. The measurement uses GeV polarized muons stored in a -m-radius storage ring with a T uniform magnetic field. The value of is determined from the measured difference between the muon spin precession frequency and its cyclotron frequency. This difference is normalized to the strength of the magnetic field, measured using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR). The ratio is then corrected for small contributions from beam motion, beam dispersion, and transient magnetic fields. We measure (0.21 ppm). This is the world's most precise measurement of this quantity and represents a factor of improvement over our previous result based on the 2018 dataset. In combination, the two datasets yield (0.20 ppm). Combining this with the measurements from Brookhaven National Laboratory for both positive and negative muons, the new world average is (exp) (0.19 ppm).

The mass difference between the Ω b− and Ξ b− baryons is measured using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb− 1, and is found to be m (Ω b−)− m (Ξ b−)= 248.54±0.51 (stat)±0.38 (syst) MeV/c 2. The mass of the Ω b− baryon is measured to be m (Ω b−)= 6045.9±0.5 (stat)±0.6 (syst) MeV/c 2. This is the most precise determination of the Ω b− mass to date. In addition, the production rate of Ω b− baryons relative to that of Ξ b− baryons is measured for the first time in p p collisions, using an LHCb dataset collected at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb− 1. Searches for the rare hadronic decays B 0→ pppp and B 0 s→ pppp are performed using proton-proton collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb− 1. Significances of 9.3 σ and 4.0 σ, including statistical and systematic uncertainties, are obtained for the B 0→ pppp and B 0 s→ pppp signals, respectively. The branching fractions are measured relative to the topologically similar normalization decays B 0→ J= ψð→ ppÞK Ã0ð→ K þπ− Þ and B 0 s→ J= ψð→ ppÞ× ϕð→ K þ K− Þ. The branching fractions are measured to be BðB 0→ ppppÞ¼ð2. 2 Æ 0.4 Æ 0.1 Æ 0.1 Þ× 10− 8 and BðB 0 s→ ppppÞ¼ð2. 3 Æ 1.0 Æ 0.2 Æ 0.1 Þ× 10− 8. In these measurements, the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third one is due to the external branching fraction of the normalization channel.

An amplitude analysis of the B+→ D s+ D s− K+ decay is carried out to study for the first time its intermediate resonant contributions, using proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. A near-threshold peaking structure, referred to as X (3960), is observed in the D s+ D s− invariant-mass spectrum with significance greater than 12 standard deviations. The mass, width, and the quantum numbers of the structure are measured to be 3956±5±10 MeV, 43±13±8 MeV, and J P C= 0++, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The properties of the new structure are consistent with recent theoretical predictions for a state composed of c c s s quarks. Evidence for an additional structure is found around 4140 MeV in the D s+ D s− invariant mass, which might be caused either by a new resonance with the 0++ assignment …

The first measurement of and production in PbNe collisions by the LHCb experiment in its fixed-target configuration is reported. The production of and mesons is studied with a beam of lead ions with an energy of 2.5 per nucleon colliding on gaseous neon targets at rest, corresponding to a nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass energy of . The / production cross-section ratio is studied as a function of rapidity, transverse momentum and collision centrality. These data are compared with measurements from collisions at the same energy and show no difference in the observed suppression trend when comparing and PbNe peripheral collisions with PbNe central collisions.

A combined amplitude analysis is performed for the decays B 0→ DD 0 s+ π− and B+→ D− D s+ π+, which are related by isospin symmetry. The analysis is based on data collected by the LHCb detector in proton-proton collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. The full data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb− 1. Two new resonant states with masses of 2.908±0.011±0.020 GeV and widths of 0.136±0.023±0.013 GeV are observed, which decay to D s+ π+ and D s+ π− respectively. The former state indicates the first observation of a doubly charged open-charm tetraquark state with minimal quark content [c s u d], and the latter state is a neutral tetraquark composed of [c s u d] quarks. Both states are found to have spin-parity of 0+, and their resonant parameters are consistent with each other, which suggests that they belong to an isospin triplet.

We present a new measurement of the positive muon magnetic anomaly, a μ≡(g μ− 2)/2, from the Fermilab Muon g− 2 Experiment using data collected in 2019 and 2020. We have analyzed more than 4 times the number of positrons from muon decay than in our previous result from 2018 data. The systematic error is reduced by more than a factor of 2 due to better running conditions, a more stable beam, and improved knowledge of the magnetic field weighted by the muon distribution, ω p′, and of the anomalous precession frequency corrected for beam dynamics effects, ω a. From the ratio ω a/ω p′, together with precisely determined external parameters, we determine a μ= 116 592 057 (25)× 10− 11 (0.21 ppm). Combining this result with our previous result from the 2018 data, we obtain a μ (FNAL)= 116 592 055 (24)× 10− 11 (0.20 ppm). The new experimental world average is a μ (exp)= 116 592 059 (22)× 10 …

The polarimeter vector field for multibody decays of a spin-half baryon is introduced as a generalisation of the baryon asymmetry parameters. Using a recent amplitude analysis of the→ pK− π+ decay performed at the LHCb experiment, we compute the distribution of the kinematic-dependent polarimeter vector for this process in the space of Mandelstam variables to express the polarised decay rate in a model-agnostic form. The obtained representation can facilitate polarisation measurements of the baryon and eases inclusion of the→ pK− π+ decay mode in hadronic amplitude analyses.

A new mechanism has been proposed to simultaneously explain the presence of dark matter and the matter-antimatter asymmetry in the Universe. This scenario predicts exotic B-meson decays into a baryon and a dark-sector antibaryon (ψ D) with branching fractions accessible at B factories. We present a search for B→ Λ ψ D decays using data collected by the BABAR experiment at SLAC. This reaction is identified by fully reconstructing the accompanying B meson and requiring the presence of a single Λ baryon in the remaining particles. No significant signal is observed, and bounds on the B→ Λ ψ D branching fraction are derived in the range 0.13–5.2× 10− 5 for 1.0< m ψ D< 4.2 GeV/c 2. These results set strong constraints on the parameter space allowed by the theory.

The ratios of branching fractions and are measured, assuming isospin symmetry, using a sample of proton-proton collision data corresponding to 3.0 fb of integrated luminosity recorded by the LHCb experiment during 2011 and 2012. The tau lepton is identified in the decay mode . The measured values are and , where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The correlation between these measurements is . Results are consistent with the current average of these quantities and are at a combined 1.9 standard deviations from the predictions based on lepton flavor universality in the Standard Model.

The B+→Ds+Ds-K+ decay is observed for the first time using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb-1. Its branching fraction relative to that of the B+→D+D-K+ decay is measured to be B(B+→Ds+Ds-K+)B(B+→D+D-K+)=0.525±0.033±0.027±0.034, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic, and the third is due to the uncertainties on the branching fractions of the Ds±→K∓K±π± and D±→K∓π±π± decays. This measurement fills an experimental gap in the knowledge of the family of Cabibbo-favored b¯→c¯cs¯ transitions and opens the path for unique studies of spectroscopy in future.
