Using a data sample of 4.481× 10 8 ψ (3686) events collected with the BESIII detector, we report the first observation of the four-lepton-decays J/ψ→ e+ e− e+ e− and J/ψ→ e+ e− μ+ μ− utilizing the process ψ (3686)→ π+ π− J/ψ. The branching fractions are determined to be [5.48±0.31 (stat)±0.45 (syst)]× 10− 5 and [3.53±0.22 (stat)±0.13 (syst)]× 10− 5, respectively. The results are consistent with theoretical predictions. No significant signal is observed for J/ψ→ μ+ μ− μ+ μ−, and an upper limit on the branching fraction is set at 1.6× 10− 6 at the 90% confidence level. A C P asymmetry observable is constructed for the first two channels, which is measured to be (− 0.012±0.054±0.010) and (0.062±0.059±0.006), respectively. No evidence for C P violation is observed in this process.

The absolute branching fraction of the decay is measured for the first time to be with 368.48 pb of collision data collected by the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energies of and GeV. This result is lower than the naive prediction of 67\%, obtained from isospin symmetry, by more than , thereby indicating that the novel mechanism referred to as the \textit{threshold effect}, proposed for the strong decays of , also applies to . This measurement is necessary to obtain the coupling constants for the transitions between -wave and -wave charmed baryons in heavy hadron chiral perturbation theory. In addition, we search for the decay . No significant signal is observed, and the upper limit on its branching fraction is determined to be 80.8\% at the 90\% confidence level.

Using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 651 pb− 1 accumulated at 22 center-of-mass energies from 2.00 to 3.08 GeV by the BESIII experiment, the process e+ e−→ ϕ π+ π− is studied. The cross sections for e+ e−→ ϕ π+ π− are consistent with previous results, but with improved precision. To measure the mass and width of the structure observed in the cross section line shape, a combine fit is performed after enhancing the contribution from ϕ f 0 (980). The fit reveals a structure with the mass of M= 2178±20±5 MeV/c 2 and the width of Γ= 140±36±16 MeV, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second ones are systematic.

ObjectivesIn 2007, the US Institute of Medicine recommended that every emergency department (ED) appoint pediatric emergency care coordinators (PECCs). Despite this recommendation, our national surveys showed that few (17%) US EDs reported at least 1 PECC in 2015. This number increased slightly to 19% in 2016 and 20% in 2017. The current study objectives were to determine the following: percent of US EDs with at least 1 PECC in 2018, factors associated with availability of at least 1 PECC in 2018, and factors associated with addition of at least 1 PECC between 2015 and 2018.MethodsIn 2019, we conducted a survey of all US EDs to characterize emergency care in 2018. Using the National ED Inventory-USA database, we identified 5514 EDs open in 2018. This survey collected availability of at least 1 PECC in 2018. A similar survey was administered in 2016 and identified availability of at least 1 …

Large-scale low-background detectors are increasingly used in rare-event searches as experimental collaborations push for enhanced sensitivity. However, building such detectors, in practice, creates an abundance of radioassay data especially during the conceptual phase of an experiment when hundreds of materials are screened for radiopurity. A tool is needed to manage and make use of the radioassay screening data to quantitatively assess detector design options. We have developed a Materials Database Application for the nEXO experiment to serve this purpose. This paper describes this database application, explains how it functions, and discusses how it streamlines the design of the experiment.

Using a sample of about 10 10 J/ψ events collected at a center-of-mass energy s= 3.097 GeV with the BESIII detector, the electromagnetic Dalitz decays J/ψ→ e+ e− π+ π− η′, with η′→ γ π+ π− and η′→ π+ π− η, have been studied. The decay J/ψ→ e+ e− X (1835) is observed with a significance of 15 σ, and also an e+ e− invariant-mass dependent transition form factor of J/ψ→ e+ e− X (1835) is presented for the first time. The intermediate states X (2120) and X (2370) are also observed in the π+ π− η′ invariant-mass spectrum with significances of 5.3 σ and 7.3 σ. The corresponding product branching fractions for J/ψ→ e+ e− X, X→ π+ π− η′[X= X (1835), X (2120), and X (2370)] are reported.

Using 2.93 fb− 1 of e+ e− collision data collected at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, we present a measurement of the branching fraction of the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed (DCS) decay D 0→ K+ π− π 0 and a search for the DCS decay D 0→ K+ π− π 0 π 0. The branching fraction of D 0→ K+ π− π 0 is determined to be [3.1 3− 0.56+ 0.60 (stat)±0.15 (syst)]× 10− 4. No signal is observed for D 0→ K+ π− π 0 π 0, and an upper limit of 3.6× 10− 4 is set on the branching fraction at the 90% CL. We combine these results with the world-average branching fractions of their counterpart Cabibbo-favored decays to determine the ratios of the DCS over the Cabibbo-favored branching fractions, B (D 0→ K+ π− π 0)/B (D 0→ K− π+ π 0)=(0.22±0.04)% and B (D 0→ K+ π− π 0 π 0)/B (D 0→ K− π+ π 0 π 0)< 0.40% at the 90% CL which correspond to (0.75±0.14) tan 4 θ C and 1.37× tan 4 θ C, respectively …

Main goal of the JUNO experiment is to determine the neutrino mass ordering using a 20 kt liquid-scintillator detector. Its key feature is an excellent energy resolution of at least 3% at 1 MeV, for which its instruments need to meet a certain quality and thus have to be fully characterized. More than 20,000 20-inch PMTs have been received and assessed by JUNO after a detailed testing program which began in 2017 and elapsed for about four years. Based on this mass characterization and a set of specific requirements, a good quality of all accepted PMTs could be ascertained. This paper presents the performed testing procedure with the designed testing systems as well as the statistical characteristics of all 20-inch PMTs intended to be used in the JUNO experiment, covering more than fifteen performance parameters including the photocathode uniformity. This constitutes the largest sample of 20-inch PMTs ever …

We study the processes e+ e−→ K S 0 D s+ D*− and e+ e−→ K S 0 D s*+ D−, as well as their charge conjugated processes, at five center-of-mass energies between 4.628 and 4.699 GeV, using data samples corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.8 fb− 1 collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring. Based on a partial reconstruction technique, we find evidence of a structure near the thresholds for D s+ D*− and D s*+ D− production in the K S 0 recoil-mass spectrum, which we refer to as the Z c s (3985) 0. Fitting with a Breit-Wigner line shape, we find the mass of the structure to be (3992.2±1.7±1.6) MeV/c 2 and the width to be (7. 7− 3.8+ 4.1±4.3) MeV, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The significance of the Z c s (3985) 0 signal is found to be 4.6 σ including both the statistical and systematic uncertainty. We report the Born cross section multiplied by the …

Using 6.32 fb− 1 of e+ e− collision data recorded by the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.178 to 4.226 GeV, we present the first measurement of the decay D s+→ f 0 (980) e+ ν e, f 0 (980)→ π 0 π 0. The product branching fraction of D s+→ f 0 (980) e+ ν e, f 0 (980)→ π 0 π 0 is measured to be (7.9±1. 4 stat±0. 4 syst)× 10− 4, with a statistical significance of 7.8 σ. Furthermore, the upper limits on the product branching fractions of D s+→ f 0 (500) e+ ν e with f 0 (500)→ π 0 π 0 and the branching fraction of D s+→ K S 0 K S 0 e+ ν e are set to be 7.3× 10− 4 and 3.8× 10− 4 at 90% confidence level, respectively. Our results provide valuable inputs to the understanding of the structures of light scalar mesons.

Using a data sample of ψ (3770) events collected with the BESIII detector at BEPCII corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.9 fb− 1, we report a measurement of Λ spin polarization in e+ e−→ Λ Λat s= 3.773 GeV. The significance of polarization is found to be 2 σ including the systematic uncertainty, which implies a zero phase between the transition amplitudes of the Λ Λhelicity states. This phase can be interpreted in terms of psionic form factors, and is determined to be Δ Φ Ψ= Φ E Ψ− Φ M Ψ=(7 1− 46+ 66±5). Similarly, the ratio between the form factors is found to be R ψ=| G E Ψ/G M Ψ|= 0.4 8− 0.35+ 0.21±0.03. The first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic.

By analyzing e+ e− annihilation data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2. 93 fb− 1 collected at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, we report the first observations of the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decays D+→ K+ π 0 π 0 and D+→ K+ π 0 η. The branching fractions of D+→ K+ π 0 π 0 and D+→ K+ π 0 η are measured to be (2. 1±0. 4 stat±0. 1 syst)× 10− 4 and (2. 1±0. 5 stat±0. 1 syst)× 10− 4 with statistical significances of 8.8σ and 5.5σ, respectively. In addition, we search for the subprocesses D+→ K*(892)+ π 0 and D+→ K*(892)+ η with K*(892)+→ K+ π 0. The branching fraction of D+→ K*(892)+ η is determined to be (±0. 2 syst)× 10− 4, with a statistical significance of 3.2σ. No significant signal for D+→ K*(892)+ π 0 is found and we set an upper limit on the branching fraction of this decay at the 90% confidence level to be 5. 4× 10− 4.

Using a sample of (10.09±0.04)× 10 9 J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring, a partial wave analysis of the decay J/ψ→ γ η η′ is performed. The first observation of an isoscalar state with exotic quantum numbers J P C= 1−+, denoted as η 1 (1855), is reported in the process J/ψ→ γ η 1 (1855) with η 1 (1855)→ η η′. Its mass and width are measured to be (1855±9− 1+ 6) MeV/c 2 and (188±18− 8+ 3) MeV, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic, and its statistical significance is estimated to be larger than 19 σ.

Using e+ e− annihilation data corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 6.32 f b− 1 collected at center-of-mass energies between 4.178 and 4.226 GeV with the BESIII detector, we perform an amplitude analysis of the decay D s+→ K S 0 K S 0 π+ for the first time. An enhancement is observed in the K S 0 K S 0 mass spectrum near 1.7 GeV/c 2, which was not seen in D s+→ K+ K− π+ in an earlier work, implying the existence of an isospin one partner of the f 0 (1710). The branching fraction of the decay D s+→ K S 0 K S 0 π+ is determined to be B (D s+→ K S 0 K S 0 π+)=(0.68±0.0 4 stat±0.0 1 syst)%.
