Measurements of C P asymmetries in charmless three-body decays of B±mesons are reported using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.9 fb− 1. The previously observed C P asymmetry in B±→ π±K+ K− decays is confirmed, and C P asymmetries are observed with a significance of more than five standard deviations in the B±→ π±π+ π− and B±→ K±K+ K− decays, while the C P asymmetry of B±→ K±π+ π− decays is confirmed to be compatible with zero. The distributions of these asymmetries are also studied as a function of the three-body phase space and suggest contributions from rescattering and resonance interference processes. An indication of the presence of the decays B±→ π±χ c 0 (1 P) in both B±→ π±π+ π− and B±→ π±K+ K− decays is observed, as is C P violation involving these amplitudes.

A Dalitz plot analysis of the→ π− π+ π+ decay is presented. The analysis is based on proton-proton collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.5 fb− 1. The resonant structure of the decay is obtained using a quasi-model-independent partial-wave analysis, in which the π+ π− S-wave amplitude is parameterised as a generic complex function determined by a fit to the data. The S-wave component is found to be dominant, followed by the contribution from spin-2 resonances and a small contribution from spin-1 resonances. The latter includes the first observation of the→ ω (782) π+ channel in the→ π− π+ π+ decay. The resonant structures of the→ π− π+ π+ and D+→ π− π+ π+ decays are compared, providing information about the mechanisms for the hadron formation in these decays.

Measurements of C P asymmetry in charmless B→ P V decays are presented, where P and V denote a pseudoscalar and a vector meson, respectively. Five different B→ P V decays from four final states, B±→ π±π+ π−, B±→ K±π+ π−, B±→ K±K+ K− and B±→ π±K+ K− are analyzed. The measurements are based on a method that does not require full amplitude analyses, and are performed using proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV collected by LHCb between 2015 and 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.9 fb− 1. In the π+ π− P-wave, in the region dominated by the B±→ ρ (770) 0 K±decay, a C P asymmetry of A C P=+ 0.150±0.019±0.011 is measured, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. This is the first observation of C P violation in this process. For the other four decay channels, in regions dominated by the B±→ ρ (770) 0 π±, B±→ K …

Resonant contributions in B 0→ DD 0 s+ π− and B+→ D− D s+ π+ decays are determined with an amplitude analysis, which is performed both separately and simultaneously, where in the latter case isospin symmetry between the decays is assumed. The analysis is based on data collected by the LHCb detector in proton-proton collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. The full data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb− 1. A doubly charged spin-0 open-charm tetraquark candidate together with a neutral partner, both with masses near 2.9 GeV, are observed in the D s π decay channel.

A first search for the decay is performed by the LHCb experiment with a data sample of proton-proton collisions, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb− 1 recorded at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. Two peaking structures are seen with a local (global) significance of and standard deviations at masses of 6571 and 6694 MeV/, respectively. Upper limits are set on the baryon production cross-section times the branching fraction relative to that of the decay at centre-of-mass energies of 8 and 13 TeV, in the and in the rapidity and transverse-momentum ranges from 2.0 to 4.5 and 0 to, respectively. Upper limits are presented as a function of the mass and lifetime.

The B+→ D s+ D s− K+ decay is observed for the first time using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb− 1. Its branching fraction relative to that of the B+→ D+ D− K+ decay is measured to be B (B+→ D s+ D s− K+) B (B+→ D+ D− K+)= 0.525±0.033±0.027±0.034, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic, and the third is due to the uncertainties on the branching fractions of the D s±→ K∓ K±π±and D±→ K∓ π±π±decays. This measurement fills an experimental gap in the knowledge of the family of Cabibbo-favored b→ c c s transitions and opens the path for unique studies of spectroscopy in future.

A first search for the lepton-flavour violating decays B → Kτμ is presented. The analysis is performed using a sample of proton-proton collision data, collected with the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV between 2011 and 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb. No significant signal is observed, and upper limits on the branching fractions are determined to be and at the 90% (95%) confidence level.[graphic not available: see fulltext]

The interpretation of cosmic antiproton flux measurements from space-borne experiments is currently limited by the knowledge of the antiproton production cross-section in collisions between primary cosmic rays and the interstellar medium. Using collisions of protons with an energy of 6.5 incident on helium nuclei at rest in the proximity of the interaction region of the LHCb experiment, the ratio of antiprotons originating from antihyperon decays to prompt production is measured for antiproton momenta between 12 and . The dominant antihyperon contribution, namely decays from promptly produced particles, is also exclusively measured. The results complement the measurement of prompt antiproton production obtained from the same data sample. At the energy scale of this measurement, the antihyperon contributions to antiproton production are observed to be significantly larger than …

Using a proton–proton collision data sample collected by the LHCb detector and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.7 fb-1, the lifetime of the light Bs0 mass eigenstate, τL, is measured using the Bs0→ J/ψη decay mode to be τL= 1.445±0.016 (stat)±0.008 (syst) ps. A combination of this result with a previous LHCb analysis using an independent dataset corresponding to 3 fb-1 of integrated luminosity gives τL= 1.452±0.014±0.007±0.002 ps, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second due to the uncorrelated part of the systematic uncertainty and the third due to the correlated part of the systematic uncertainty.

The cross section of the process has been measured in the center of mass energy range from 0.32 to 1.2 GeV with the CMD-3 detector at the electron-positron collider VEPP-2000. The measurement is based on a full dataset collected below 1 GeV during three data taking seasons, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 62 pb. In the dominant -resonance region, a systematic uncertainty of 0.7% has been reached. At energies around -resonance the production cross section was measured for the first time with high energy resolution. The forward-backward charge asymmetry in the production has also been measured. It shows the strong deviation from the theoretical prediction based on conventional sQED framework and is in good agreement with GVDM and dispersive-based predictions. The impact of presented results on the evaluation of the hadronic contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of muon is discussed.

Resonant structures in the dipion mass spectrum from χ c 1 (3872)→ π+ π− J/ψ decays, produced via B+→ K+ χ c 1 (3872) decays, are analyzed using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb− 1. A sizeable contribution from the isospin conserving χ c 1 (3872)→ ω J/ψ decay is established for the first time,(21.4±2.3±2.0)%, with a significance of more than 7.1 σ. The amplitude of isospin violating decay, χ c 1 (3872)→ ρ 0 J/ψ, relative to isospin conserving decay, χ c 1 (3872)→ ω J/ψ, is properly determined, and it is a factor of 6 larger than expected for a pure charmonium state.

An amplitude analysis of the B+→ D s+ D s− K+ decay is carried out to study for the first time its intermediate resonant contributions, using proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. A near-threshold peaking structure, referred to as X (3960), is observed in the D s+ D s− invariant-mass spectrum with significance greater than 12 standard deviations. The mass, width, and the quantum numbers of the structure are measured to be 3956±5±10 MeV, 43±13±8 MeV, and J P C= 0++, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The properties of the new structure are consistent with recent theoretical predictions for a state composed of c c s s quarks. Evidence for an additional structure is found around 4140 MeV in the D s+ D s− invariant mass, which might be caused either by a new resonance with the 0++ assignment …

Its branching fraction relative to that of the B+→D+D-K+ decay is measured to be B(B+→Ds+Ds-K+)B(B+→D+D-K+)=0.525±0.033±0.027±0.034, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic, and the third is due to the uncertainties on the branching fractions of the Ds±→K∓K±π± and D±→K∓π±π± decays. This measurement fills an experimental gap in the knowledge of the family of Cabibbo-favored b¯→c¯cs¯ transitions and opens the path for unique studies of spectroscopy in future.

An amplitude analysis of B−→ J/ψ Λ p decays is performed using 4400 signal candidates selected on a data sample of p p collisions recorded at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV with the LHCb detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb− 1. A narrow resonance in the J/ψ Λ system, consistent with a pentaquark candidate with strangeness, is observed with high significance. The mass and the width of this new state are measured to be 4338.2±0.7±0.4 MeV and 7.0±1.2±1.3 MeV, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The spin is determined to be 1/2 and negative parity is preferred. Because of the small Q-value of the reaction, the most precise single measurement of the B− mass to date, 5279.44±0.05±0.07 MeV, is obtained.
